Second Korean leaders summit and flood aid for North Korea

August 25th, 2007 · No Comments

lee-jae-young.jpgThe Minister for Unification at a regular press briefing on 24 August stated that South Korea will be sending USD40 million in construction materials in addition to the USD7.5 million in emergency relief aid already announced. In addition, 21 private organizations notified the Ministry Of Unification that they would give the North approximately USD15.7 million.

Yep. It is quite a lot. But then again there are estimated to be 300,000 people left homeless.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Unification has been preparing for the rescheduled Second Summit Meeting. The Ministry has undertaken meetings and collected opinions on the Summit from representatives of the press, civil organizations, and plans to obtain further advice from experts in the fields of socio-culture and the economy.

Wow, between these meetings and arguing with the Ministry of Defence over redrawing the Northern Limit Line (NLL), the Ministry of Unification sure is busy!
