Bolton: Surrender is not an option

November 7th, 2007 · No Comments

You gotta love John Bolton. He may not have proven to be the best diplomat, but damn does he have a way with words. On the subject of Kim Jong-Il, he was reported in the Hankyoreh Shimun as stating:

If I were Kim Jong-Il, I would not be optimistic… his death will be dirty and contemptible, like his life and his regime, and it will be exactly what he deserves…

Bolton is out and about promoting his new book Surrender Is Not an Option: Defending America at the United Nations, which, given the colorful character of the author, should be a good read. Personally, I love it, even the title is like a Rambo-style action film.

Bolton also gives more  on the history of the Agreed Framework and how, from this, he is convinced that North Korea will certainly cheat on the current deal as well. Despite all the bagging that Bolton gets about his diplomatic style, there are very few people that would openly disagree with him on this call…

…and more over at Marmot’s Hole on another Korea-related aspect of Bolton’s book - how Japan voted against Ban Ki-Moon in the elections for the United Nations Secretary General.
